LIN ROUNTREE

Trumpet

“With his hip vibe and soulful sound, the fresh young artist brings the cool factor back to the genre”, says Trippin’ N Rhythm Records referring to Detroit based Lin Rountree. Born in New York City in 1971, the trumpeter and producer grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, where he began playing trumpet around age 11. A talented high school player, he participated in music programs offered through the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts and later honed his skills at Florida A&M University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Also during this period, Lin continued to study the music of artists like Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard or Tom Browne. In 2005, he made his debut with “Groovetree” and returned with several more well-regarded albums that earned him 12 chart topping Billboard singles, including the Billboard #1 Hit “Pass The Groove” from his latest CD. The outstanding live performer has also collaborated with some of the industry’s top R&B/Contemporary Jazz artists, such as George Duke, U-Nam or Tim Bowman.
