JEFF KASHIWA

Saxophone

Seattle native, Jeff Kashiwa knew he was destined to be a musician following his junior high introduction to woodwinds. He became known as one of the most compelling young saxophonists in contemporary jazz during his first year with “The Rippingtons” in 1989. Jeff performed hundreds of shows worldwide and appeared on many of the band’s recordings. After his decade long tenure with that group, Kashiwa’s instincts led him to more dynamic endeavors through his solo career. It surprised many when he left the group, but he had things to say through his own music. In 2004, Kashiwa founded “The Sax Pack”, a trio of sax headliners, ft. himself, Steve Cole and Kim Waters. The group charms audiences with their “Rat Pack style” in tours across the U.S. and abroad. For their 20th Anniversary Tour, Jeff reunited with “The Rippingtons” two years later and continued to record and tour with the group another ten years. In addition to touring with “The Sax Pack” and his own group “Coastal Access”, Kashiwa has also been teaching various music courses.
