EUGE GROOVE

Saxophone

Multi-instrumentalist Steven Eugene Grove began playing piano in the second grade and turned to the saxophone at the age of nine. He became interested in jazz at the University of Miami’s School of Music. Upon graduation, he initially remained in Miami doing sessions and playing in bands such as Expose. He then moved to Los Angeles and joined Tower of Power, remaining with the group about four years. Following this experience, he freelanced, doing sessions and working in backup bands, his clients including Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Eurythmics, The Gap Band, Huey Lewis & the News or Elton John. At the end of the ’90s, Grove developed the persona of “Euge Groove”. Meanwhile, he has scored close to a dozen #1 hits on the Contemporary Jazz Charts, thrilling fans with danceable grooves, mind-bending hooks, R&B infused melodies and inspired solos. His last CD, “Groove On” features him not only on saxophone, but on some tracks also on flute and keyboard. Incidentally, Euge met Vocalist Lindsey Webster, who also appears on the new CD, in 2016 on our Smooth Jazz Festival in Augsburg/Germany…
