BRIAN CULBERTSON

Piano & Trombone

Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Brian Culbertson grew up near Chicago. Loving genre-crossing jazz-pop artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power, The Brecker Brothers, David Sanborn, Sting and Chick Corea, his musical journey began at the age of 8 on piano, adding drums at 9, trombone at 10, and bass at 12. So naturally gifted was Brian, that he started composing original music for his 7th grade piano recital. He flourished in school bands throughout high school and moved to downtown Chicago to continue his musical studies at DePaul University. In 1994, aged 20, he self-produced his debut album. After that release, he went on to compose jingles for clients such as United Airlines, Gatorade, Sears and McDonald’s while continuing to make records and tour.

Since releasing “Long Night Out”, Brian has released fifteen more albums, travelled around the world and seen his name at the top of Billboard and radio charts (more than 13 #1 hits as an artist and 13 more as a producer and/or composer). He has worked and performed with industry all-stars like Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire, Larry Graham, Michael McDonald, Chris Botti, Barry Manilow, Herb Alpert, Natalie Cole, Chuck Brown, and Bootsy Collins just to name a few. Furthermore, he has received numerous awards including being nominated for a 2012 NAACP Image Award and a 2012 Soul Train Award. Brian is currently working on a new “romantic” themed album which will be released on Valentine’s Day 2018. He previewed a few of the new song ideas on a Facebook Live post in March, 2017.
